Despite the admission that they hated covering Slade (they mention it in several VH1 specials)—hopefully because they didn’t like the idea being pushed on them by the record company, not because they didn’t like the eminently-appreciable Slade—Quiet Riot was kinda neato because they kicked off the LA-style glam metal craze.
If, like me, this is the only part of the 80s that you appreciate (beyond my birth, which was fairly crucial), you’ll probably dig these three early QR videos that Gibson’s lifestyle blog (!) unearthed on YouTube.
Of course, you should like them anyway because they showcase Quiet Riot’s original RANDY-FUCKING-RHODES-having lineup. Dude rips, period.
A refresh of the Wolves logo reviewed at Brand New. The revised angles on the pine gauntlet make it seem truly menacing.
I’ll always prefer how the blue wolf and the little green eyes popped against that silver ball in the classic logo, though (if I recall, it was actually metallic in certain applications). Monitor viewing does not do it justice.
